The Extra Mile
In the Old Testament we find Moses going up the mountain to receive from God the law. It was instructions on how He wanted Israel to live. In Matthew chapter 5 we find Jesus going up on a mountain and sitting down and teaching how God wants us to live now. In the world’s viewpoint, and may I say the religious as well, what Jesus teaches is a radical redefinition of righteousness. Jesus reveals to us that living as citizens of God’s Kingdom is marked by an inward transformation that manifests in outward actions.
