In the Old Testament we find Moses going up the mountain to receive from God the law. It was instructions on how He wanted Israel to live. In Matthew chapter 5 we find Jesus going up on a mountain and sitting down and teaching how God wants us to live now. In the world’s viewpoint, and may I say the religious as well, what Jesus teaches is a radical redefinition of righteousness. Jesus reveals to us that living as citizens of God's Kingdom is marked by an inward transformation that manifests in outward actions.
