Jesus said in Matthew 5:3, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” To be poor in spirit is to recognize your total spiritual poverty. Recognizing that you have nothing to offer Him on your own. It's a coming to Him with humility and not pride. It's actually a place of brokenness. When we come to Him in this way, He meets us and fills us with His presence. Victory comes when we quit trying to do it ourselves and admit that we need Him. In our brokenness we encounter Him and discover His goodness!!!
